Ballet Class At Home

For years, my daughter let everyone know that she wanted to be a "farmer ballerina" when she grew up.  At that point in her life, she had never learned one ballet move, nor had she ever planted a single seed in the ground.

One summer, our local Parks & Recreation offered a discounted four-week enrollment for young girls at the local dance studio.  I promptly enrolled my daughter so she could gain a little experience with it.  She LOVED it.  I didn't.  I was disturbed by the music choices for such little girls.  I thought it was too provocative.

The next school year, I bought a fabulous introductory ballet video that was made for home use.  We invited two of her friends to come once a week to learn beginning ballet.  This DVD became a favorite, and I give it my highest recommendation for young girls.

I'll share the description for "I'm a Ballerina Now":
I'm A Ballerina Now was created to inspire and help children realize their dreams of becoming a dancer. It is a complete ballet class for young beginners. Lyrics are sung to beautiful music which aid the child in remembering the dance exercises and performing them correctly. The young dancer's dream is visualized during each exercise when a real ballerina appears and performs the same steps which the child is working on. This program is also an excellent guide for a dance school for their children. It shows the types of exercises that should be a part of every ballet class.
If you have a little girl who wishes to learn ballet, or you're looking for a great elective for your daughter for homeschool, you won't be disappointed with this.
