History Revealed

I cannot think of a more natural way to educate your children than at home.  You are the very best teacher your child could have, regardless of how you feel about that statement.  Statistics prove that homeschooled children in general fare better academically, emotionally and socially than their traditionally schooled counterparts.

In my years of homeschooling, I've tried a variety of curriculum companies.  I seemed to have a difficult time finding the right fit for history.  Some Christian history curricula is a mirror of the secular textbooks, with a few minor "Christian" additions.  This was not satisfactory to me, since I don't think that history can be rightly interpreted apart from the Scriptures.  In addition, I feel like most Christian history curricula de-emphasizes the enormous factor that Israel plays in world history according to Scripture.

Finally, someone agreed with that line of thought and created a spectacular curriculum that has turned our homeschool upside down!

History Revealed by Diana Waring, is a three volume history curriculum that approaches history from a biblical perspective.  The first volume, Ancient Civilizations & the Bible, takes students from creation to Christ.  "You will see God's purposes worked through His chosen people, Israel, culminating in the birth of the Messiah, Jesus Christ."

Visit the website of the publisher, Answers in Genesis, to watch a short video of Diana Waring as she speaks about the heart behind this curriculum.

I have been caught up in these lessons right along with my children.  I am learning about things that I never learned when I was in school!  Although I've always enjoyed history, it is coming alive to me like never before.  I am beginning to understand why things happened the way they did and why people did the things they did because I'm learning it from a biblical perspective.  Don't settle for a watered-down, secular version of history.  Get History Revealed!

Hey, Vicky! What other History curricula have you used?

I started out with ABeka, which is the curriculum I grew up with in Christian school. But I find it so dry and lacking so much meat (that's just my personal opinion... others may love it). Then I made my own history/geography curriculum and couple of years ago. It was a "tour" of the 50 states. It was so much fun. But I'm not really interested in creating my own curriculum every year. I don't have time for that.

One of the things that appealed to me so much was that the History Revealed curriculum showed history as it related to the same time period in Israel. Since I want to raise my children with a Scriptural worldview, I feel this is vitally important. I believe that everything God does around the world and all the events that take place relate to His chosen nation/people, Israel.
